Manchester City Player Ratings

Ederson – 5/10

Pep Guardiola has been vocal in his desire to keep hold of Ederson and has handed the Brazilian a second chance to return to the starting line-up, handing him the captain’s armband. He made two fine saves in the game, but could have done better for Colombo’s second goal.

Mahamadou Susoho – 6/10

He was deployed at right-back, which is not his natural position, but Susoho did well when the team had possession, but gave Colombo too many easy places to score. He did not make any mistakes after that, even though he was substituted at half-time.

Jahmi Simpson-Pusy – 6/10

He was given another chance to start, showing how much Guardiola trusts him. He still looked a bit flustered at times, but overall he passed the test of carrying an 18-year-old.

Callum Doyle – 7/10

Very calm when having to cover both the centre-back and left-back positions, showing how much the experience from the past three years on loan has helped him.

Rico Lewis – 6/10

He started as a left-back but was constantly dipping inside to overload the midfield. However, it was a double-edged sword as Milan’s first two goals came from a position where he was responsible for everything.

Maximo Perrone – 6/10

With Phillips dropped to the bench, Perrone was given the chance to start instead. He may not have had the best position at times, but his timing and reading of the game was quite good.

Nico O’Reilly – 6/10

Improved from the previous game against Celtic, didn’t make any mistakes but wasn’t particularly impressive when playing as a holding midfielder.

Oscar Bobb – 8/10

The standout player on the team, his role is reminiscent of Foden, with plenty of chances to create and also finding a shot. He provided one assist in this match, which should have been his own goal if he had been more clinical.

James McAtee – 7/10

It was a crucial pre-season for McAtee as he made it clear he wanted to stay, so he tried his best to show his boss. But the first half was quiet before he stepped up and scored the equaliser to make it 2-2.

Jack Grealish – 6/10

Hasn’t shown much swagger in the past two games, but hasn’t made many mistakes. He was deployed more centrally when Haaland was substituted and has adapted well.

Erling Haaland – 7/10

There may not be many chances, but when we have the chance, there is always a chance. It’s a pity that we were only on the field for 45 minutes, so we might have seen more than one goal for sure.
